i’m glad that today is Saturday, so i can have a good rest for two days.. i’ve started my elective programe as a volunteer at The Eddy Memorial Geriatric Centre, Troy NY.. located just about 5 mins walking from my hubby’s apt.. this centre is a nursing home for elders whereby they provide various services to meet the needs of the elders..

all the staffs and residents there are really nice and they welcome my presence there.. when you meet anybody, they will say hello to you, good morning, how are you today? even in the street sometimes people will say hello to you.. would it be nice if in mesia, everybody say salam and smile when they meet at the hallway, kaki lima.. anywhere.. i have to start this good habit myself first..

on the first day, i was introduced by my supervisor to the staffs there and meet some of the residents.. i even have to call cards for the pokeno games.. which is interesting..

the second day was even more interesting because i got a chance to be involved in the Life enrichment programme, a programme for the demented and alzheimers people..by looking at them, make me really appreciate what i have now.. and hoping not to be like them when i get old..

the demented people have slow processing of information, it took them long enough just to sort out red buttons or black buttons from the others.. but they love colourful and fancy things.. this what makes them attracted to do the activity and maintain their attention.. but that varies according to the level of dementia that they have, they mild one can still read and socialized well..

i met a very nice 80 year old lady, name milli.. what i learnt from her was never look down on anybody because you’ll never know one day u’ll become like them..

lama dah tak update blog ni.. before this busy with final exam orthopaedic posting.. alhamdulillah, pass. so bolehla pegi elektive posting kat Troy, NY , USA.. baru sampai semalam around 7.30pm local US time.. very tiring flight, almost 21 hours baru tibe kat Newark Liberty International Airport.. then it took about 3 hours driving from newark to troy, now a bit sleepy..hehe jet lag sket..

alhamdulillah, i’m very happy because i can meet my husband after being separated for about 6 months.. and thanks to Allah, both of us manage to face His test with patience. so, this time, i had lots of things to do in Troy..

i have to complete my elective posting as a volunteer at The Eddy Memorial Geriatric Centre for 6 weeks.. hopefully i’ll have a great time there with the elders. and could learn lots of new things..then, i planning to visit few places here.. later i will write about the places i’ve visited.

next month, there will be 2 big events.. my hubby’s graduation and also our second anniversary.. so, hopefully, ape yg dirancangkan berjalan dgn lancar..
